DURATION

Enhancing Website Accessibility Standards

As the UX designer, I collaborated closely with developers to address key ADA-related issues, focusing primarily on color contrast and alt text. Using the WAVE (Web Accessibility Evaluation Tools) for manual scanning, I identified areas with insufficient contrast and worked with the team to implement updates that met AAA standards, while ensuring consistency with SWWC’s brand. I also ensured proper alt text implementation across the site to improve accessibility.

The Results

The outcome was impressive — through close collaboration between the design and development teams, we successfully addressed and resolved thousands of technical and contrast-related ADA issues, bringing the website into alignment with WCAG 2.2 and Section 508 standards. By enhancing color contrast to meet AAA compliance and ensuring accurate alt text implementation, the site became genuinely accessible, featuring clear text and user-friendly navigation.
